HUMSER355 : HUMSER PRACTICUM I
Competency: Can negotiate and participate in a practicum, working purposefully with an individual or group and using theories or models for change to accomplish stated goals. Mr. Huth resubmitted a paper in which he made substantive additions to the previous work that was submitted. More specifically, the evaluation component that was added to his paper was well done. It very thorough and thoughtful, demonstrating insight and awareness. Mr. Huth also added an Appendix with relevant material and a supporting letter of verification for the work that was carried out. With the additions that were presented, Mr. Huth has very successfully satisfied the requirements of the competency. Overall, he did a great job!

For this competency, students must construct and present an in-depth analysis of a topic or issue that has political, economic and/or social significance. John spent the semester as a peer tutor for a pilot project Community Classroom. He worked extensively with these adult learners at their workplace, The New England Home. After each session he wrote journal entries and has analyzed the learning issues that emerged. He has made suggestions for addressing the issues. He is off to an excellent start. To complete this competency he must: 1) provide a literature review (adult learning, community education)that informs the analysis (criterion and standard #2; 2)place the analysis within a broad context describing the way this work is connected to other work that has been done in the field (criterion and standard #3; 3)Research conceptual frameworks (criterion and standard #4); describe and justify the conceptual framework proposed (criterion and standard #5)and develop the analysis based on the selected framework. It promises to be an exciting, innovative and intellectually stimulating Capstone!
