Competency: Using theory and concepts, can analyze the major developmental changes, opportunities, and risks that occur in a specific life stage and describe how different programs and policies can support positive social and emotional development at a particular life stage. To complete the work on the Life Stages competency, Mr. Huth submitted a comprehensive 126-page paper, covering developmental changes that occur in people over the life span and theories of development that relate to these changes. Various sections cantained case studies to demonstrate his understanding of the material. Contained in this paper, therefore, was a very thorough and thoughtful discussion of issues and challenges related to the life stage of childhood. Mr. Huth examined various aspects of physical development, cognitive development, and social development as it takes place in childhood, as well as referred to programs and policies that might be relevant to childhood development. He also presented a case study in this regard. Mr. Huth, therefore, did an excellent job in satisfying the requirements for this competency, and clearly demonstrated an excellent grasp of the material. An excellent piece of work!
