At CPCS, students are not passive recipients of knowledge but active learners who create projects and programs based on real world problems and issues.  Simply engaging in community based projects however, in not enough. Students must also document outcomes, reflect on learning, incorporate relevant research and present their findings.  In this way, CPCS prepares students to be active agents of change and growth in their community or workplace.

CPCS helped me to develop professional practices that are grounded in real world learning experiences.  In addition, CPCS's competency based program helped me to become a better writer.  Most importantly perhaps, CPCS gave me the opportunity to pursue learning that was relevant and engaging to me.  Directing my own learning made me recognize the importance of dilligence and personal responsibility.  These are important skills that continue to serve me well both in my work and in my ongoing education.
